There is a lot to discuss with greasing practices.
There's also a lot to disagree on....
I've thought about why there is so much disagreement and different opinions on this.
Is it old school practices that people refuse to move past?
Like beer can cold charging?..... Don't swing it's just an example....
With years of reading literature on all kinds of equipment I've gotten to see the various procedures recommended by manufacturers.
I have also gotten to reflect on the days when I was oiling bearings instead of greasing.
LOL haven't seen an oiled system in YEARS!
Putting all of this together I've concluded that everyone is right in their own way.
What I mean is each version of how greasing should be done is true for different applications.
What I see has happened is we learn one way of doing it then we lock in that's the standard it should be done by.
I will share my training and experience for my personal practices but it's important to have perspective on why there are so many opinions.
Bearing maintenance is a major function for techs to be in the know about.
I find that many are far to under educated on the topic leading to a lot of bearing failures that didn't need to happen.
