Inputs in Chillers and BMS Controls

Building on the controls inputs.

Something I'm not sure most tech's understand is the controls we service whether in a chiller or controlling the plant. They are the same fundamentals.

One is more generic to fit a variety of applications and largely field programmed/configured.

The other is built for it's specific chiller/panel with a factory team writing programming.

Anyway, our controllers use outputs to perform two main functions. 1- giving commands. 2- reporting information.

Just like with inputs, our outputs can be analog or binary. If it is an analog signal then "ao3" would be and example of it's identifier.

Some examples of outputs are:

Start/Stop

Emergency Stop

Valve Adjustment

Status

Speed Command

These are important concepts that, when understood, really boost speed and confidence troubleshooting.
