VRF Chillers, Our Next Step Forward?

VRF chillers are an interesting development.

Being able to take the technology of VRF and combine it with hydronics is a great move.

So many of the issues with VRF systems is the piping installs and oil management.

This also gets the refrigerant out of the building/confined space.

As VRF systems have been implemented the scale of the systems has grown.

I have worked on some that were pushing 300lb of refrigerant for a single bank.

I like how keeping the refrigerant in the outdoor unit will really speed up and simplify a lot of service tasks.

That terrifying feeling of recovering a system for a repair fearing the pressure test and evac because of the line set.

I think this is a good direction overall.
